Even voorstellen... Hasante Aufi
My name is Hasante Yarabi Aufi and I live in Kamwaza Village, within the Mawa Community. I was born on 31 January 1998. I come from a family of three: my mother, my sister and myself. We lost our father in 2008, an experience that deeply shaped me and strengthened my sense of responsibility and determination to support both my family and my community.
My educational background is diverse and practical. I hold a Malawi Certificate of Education (MSCE), a Certificate in Electrical Installation, a Diploma in Human Resource Management, a Certificate in Project Management and Monitoring & Evaluation, and a Diploma in Leadership and Development Studies. This combination of technical, organisational and leadership skills supports my work within the community.
I am an entrepreneur, focusing on farming and transportation, with the aim of creating reliable and sustainable sources of income. Alongside my own business activities, I have been working with Stichting Beter Malawi since 2022.
What is your role within Beter Malawi
Within the foundation, I serve as Local College Talent Project Officer, Manager of Mawa Connected, and Coordinator for all Beter Malawi projects in the Mawa community. I am closely involved in projects that support young people, connectivity and local development, and I help ensure that projects are well coordinated and aligned with community needs.
What motivates you most in your work?
What motivates me most is my passion to empower young people and uplift communities. I strongly believe that with the right guidance, skills and opportunities, youth can become confident, innovative and hardworking leaders who transform their families and communities.
What dream do you have for your community?
My dream is to help build a self-sustainable, empowered and progressive community — a community where people have the knowledge, skills and mindset to support themselves, create opportunities and uplift one another. I envision a future where youth are productive, families are thriving, and development continues even without external support.
